Introduction

For over 75 years, the Irish Professional Photographers and Videographers Association (IPPVA) has run a competition to celebrate the best in photography.

Now including videographers, the awards are a chance for members to showcase their best work, promote the profession, and raise industry standards.

The Photographer of the Year award recognizes consistent high-quality work by members across the year.

Entry Fee: Only €7.50 per image.
Free Entries: One free entry per category.
Limits: Up to 6 entries per category.
Rounds: 3 rounds during the year.
Judges: Can enter any category round they are not judging.
Image Rules: Only photos taken after 1st January 2024 can be entered, see also category specific rules.

Format of Entries

Photography Submissions
Entries must be submitted via the awards platform in JPEG format.
The sRGB colour space must be used for all images.
Images must be sized to 4000 pixels on the long edge.
The filenames of entries are not important and will not impact the judging process.

4. How It Works

The competition runs online. Judging is done through a dedicated platform, where judges review entries and score them based on set criteria.

Discussion: Judges meet on zoom to discuss scores and debate any scoring differences.
